Rueda en la Playa at Moonlight Beach - Sun. Apr. 1st

Rueda en la Playa is back!! Now that the construction at Moonlight Beach has finally ended we can resume with our monthly classes at the beach. We will be hosting our regular beginner & intermediate class following with some social dancing on April 1st. It's a potluck to celebrate Easter Sunday so bring a snack to share. Come Dance in front of a beautiful ocean front scene. This is a family friendly event.

Hike-n-Rueda Monserate Mtn in Fallbrook - Sun Apr. 1st

We are doing a hike up Monserate Mtn on Easter Morning. It will be an early start as many have Easter Sunday commitments.  This is Maritza's favorite hike but it's intense for its inclines, there are 7 inclines on this hike, excellent for training. This is not for the weak at heart. It will certainly kick your butt. Who wants a challenge?!!

International Rueda de Casino Flashmob in Oceanside - Sat. Apr. 7th

Greetings Casineros and Amigos!

On April 7th at 4:00pm ALL AROUND THE WORLD, there will be a scheduled rueda de casino flash mob in major cities in just about every country around the globe. If you don't believe me, check out the website titled International Rueda De Casino Multi Flash Mob Day

I have registered our San Diego based rueda de casino flash mob participation for Oceanside. Our flash mob location is in the busiest part of Oceanside by the beach. Tons of tourists walk around this place especially because there is an Ironman race happening. THE FLASH MOB LOCATION IS A SECRET. 

THE REHEARSAL LOCATION IS NOTED ON THIS POST

Here are the details:
What: Rehearsal for Rueda de Casino Flash Mob in Oceanside
Where: Pacific Street Linear Park, click this link for Google Map directions
When: Picnic will begin at noon, it's a potluck bring some snacks to share, we will have the sound system set up so we can get started warming up and social dancing
Rehearsal time is 2:00pm and the Flash Mob is at 4:00pm

STRUCTURE OF THE FLASHMOB CHOREOGRAPHY:
TIMBA SONG is 5 minutes and 30 seconds

Everyone MUST be paired. No solo dancers this time. 
The First 1/3 - Advanced group -preselected
The 2nd 1/3 - Intermediate group - identified
The 3rd 1/3 - Beginners - identified
THREE Callers for each level

We will need a couple of videographers because we need a few folks to videotape.

Here is the scheduled itinerary:
12noon-2pm Pre-party picnic/Potluck & some dancing; warm up
2pm-3:30pm - Flashmob practice
3:30pm-4pm - "flash mobbers" walk to the site #1 and Pretend to do the following typical pier-going activities: fishing, take pictures like a tourist, watch the surfers on the water, eat some ice cream, hang out with friends talking about the movie you just saw, play hacky sack, skateboard down the ramp or just bring a skateboard, take your dog for walk, etc. You get the idea.

This is NOT for brand new people who have not taken a rueda class yet. It is a flash mob for casineros taking classes already and know basic beginner moves and intermediate moves.

Here is the list of moves, if you do not recognize some of the calls do not worry we will be going over them on Saturday at 2pm sharp. Everything is fairly simple to allow an opportunity for all levels to join us.

*Intermediate group will be pre-selected on Saturday. Intermediate group will begin approaching the Rueda after El space needle con vuelta, at the DQN point, you will jump into the Rueda while the advance group is in son montuno, the advance group will demonstrate on Saturday*

This is the first of the 7 hikes we posted for the Spring. This one will also take the longest to drive to, so be ready to carpool. We organized two carpool locations. See below. We know you will have been partying at Temecula the night before but will do this hike regardless, right, BECAUSE we're crazy like that!!

Casinero Invasion at Sposito's in Temecula - Fri. March 30th

Attention all Casineros and Amigos,
Looks like our dream has come true! An integrated timba/salsa/bachata night is happening in Temecula! A NEW dance spot is having their grand opening. It's a Cuban & Italian Restaurant called Sposito's. The producers of La Jolla Marriott Salsa nights in San Diego, is now starting a new venue in Temecula and they are asking me to help with doing a demo for their Grand Opening. Casino on AstroTurf at Solana Beach - Sat. April 14th

Are You Ruedy Casineros?!

That's right mi gente! It's the April installment of Casino on Cardboard but this time on AstroTurf and back in Solana Beach at our favorite spot. Let's dance and catch up on some of my new rueda moves I have been teaching my level 1 and 2 casineros.

Come dance with us to our favorite music and join in on some ruedas, salsa suelta and just plain on-on-one casino dancing. The sun will set a little after 7:15pm so there will be plenty of sunshine and a cool Pacific breeze to enjoy. We had so many people at our last Solana Beach dance party, let's do that again!!

Once we get the rueda going, you will be peeling off the layers. This is a beginner's level rueda practice for Tuesday's Rueda class.
