Rueda de Casino Classes in San Diego for Beginners

Greetings Everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that since we have been out there dancing socially and doing rueda demos out in the community, there has been some great interest from new people taking classes for rueda de casino. So to make the information accessible to new people visiting the San Diego Rueda Blog,
here is a listing of Beginner Level rueda de casino classes in San Diego but you will need to click this Dance Instructor's Tab to get the details of cost, registration location(address link) etc:

MONDAYS from 7:30-9pm - Beginner Level 1, currently taking new people to join the class; will soon close the door (no drop-ins) once we have reached a critical mass of leads.

TUESDAYS from 6:30-8pm Begins November 7th (Taking new people to join the class-series). Maritza offers a lock-step cohort format class series with no drops once the series begins. This means once you start those in your class move with you to the next level (Level 2 for one month, Level 3 the next month) to raise your level as a dancer.  So if don't sign up for November, you will have to wait until next year in March to sign up for Beginner Level 1. Friday's Quick Refresher Rueda Practice before Musica en la Plaza - Fri. Sept 29th

Greetings Everyone!
Start the weekend right dancing rueda de casino at our Friday Rueda Practice for an hour before we the Musica en la Plaza event featuring Manny Cepeda Orquestra. Come refresh on the moves we learned in class this week and what I plan to call in the ruedas at Musica en la Plaza. The picture below is where we will be in Grape Day Park for our practice.

WHAT: Rueda de casino practice 

WHEN: Friday, September 29th 2017 from 6-7pm
At 7pm, we will walk together to the Lyric Plaza where Manny Cepeda is playing
Breakdown of the practice:
6:00pm - Beginner Level 1 and for beginners footwork drills and pal' medio , caminamos, Un tarro, guapea, un fly, matala
6:30pm - Beginner Level 2 & 3 together rueda practice (emphasizing pabajo, dos-con-una, dame con despelote, dame con tembleque, pal'medio, all level 3 moves thus far)

Breakdown of the practice:
6:00pm - Beginner Level 1 and for beginners needing more time to repeat basic moves

Sabor Caliente Hispanic Heritage Month Event in City Heights San Diego - Sat. Sept 30th

Greetings Everyone!

There is a free, family friendly event showcasing Music, Art, Dance, and Culture, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage! Get Ready San Diego! Cuban culture will be one of the highlights and they asked EscoRueda to perform and lead some salsa suelta for the audience. There will be music.

Day-time Casinero Meet Up at Carlsbad's Hispanic Heritage Month - Sat. Sept 16th

Greetings Everyone, 

We are kicking off the weekend beginning Saturday in the day time. Maritza has been asked to bring her playlist of timba, Cubaton, Dominican Bachata and Merengue. Below is the Facebook event descriptions:

Rueda de Casino is a salsa dance where pairs of dancers form a circle and a "caller" calls out different dance moves and signifies partner switches, making for a visually stunning effect! So excited for this performance!

Maritza is an Rueda de Casino instructor and dance aficionado who loves to represent Cuban culture with this fun dance. Her brother, David Baida, is an original cast member of the new Broadway musical, ON YOUR FEET!, the story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan!

Maritza will also be the official DJ for the day's activities!  AZUCAR!"

Maritza's Beginner Level 3 Class Series in Escondido Begins Tuesday Sept 5th

Greetings Mi Gente!
I just opened class registration for Level 3 Beginners Rueda de Casino. This one-month rueda class series is set up for Beginner Level 2 Cuban salsa dancers. This mean, dancers have completed Beginner Levels 1 and 2 and already know the following dance commands: Guapea, Dame, Dile Que No, Enchufla Adios Prima, Pa'l Medio, Vacilala  (in addition to Echeverria, Matala series, Un Fly series and a few add-on's to the above mentioned moves). WHAT: LEVEL THREE Beginners Rueda Series

WHEN: Tuesdays from 6:00pm-7:55pm  Dates are 9/5, 9/12/9/19 & 9/26; includes a public rueda practice on Fridays from 6:30pm-8:00pm except on Sept 8th)
Registration: Please complete this online form before attending the first class

COST: $40.00 per person - Please bring cash or check on the first day of class.

Rueda Que Se Mueve in Los Angeles - All Day Saturday September 9th

Greetings Casineros & Amigos!

Kati Hernàndez & I are super excited to launch the second "special edition" of Rueda Que Se Mueve Saturday filled with Casino/Rueda/Cuban dance styling bootcamp sessions, food, dancing, and rueda games.

Purpose: To bring two Cuban dance communities separated by geographic distance together by hosting each other,share a meal together, socialize with each other, dance together, learn rueda in a fun environment and working together on techniques to become a better Cuban style dancer. Los Angeles will host San Diego casineros and Cuban dance lovers offering a taste of Cuba in Santa Monica
