HAPPY NEW YEAR! LET's KICK OFF 2015 at CURUYE's FIRST CUBAN SALSA TIMBA of THE YEAR! Deejay WARAPO will be  spinning CUBAN SALSA, TIMBA, SON, REGGAETÓN!  KATI HERNÁNDEZ is teaching AFRO TIMBA steps to help open the roads for the new year, moves that you can also incorporate into your dancing. CONSIDER WEARING  WHITE FOR LIGHT & PEACE for the NEW YEAR!

We also have a lot of January birthdays this month, so let's help our friends celebrate on the dance floor! (If you'd like to celebrate your January birthday, message Curuye so we can put your name on the cake!)

Chef Israel  serves up some tasty dishes, so you might want to sample a dish from his varied menu!!

Beginners Cuban Salsa Class Starts Wednesday, Jan.7th

Good things are going to happen in 2015. I already feel it! I have a new class series for beginners starting Wednesday, January 7th who want to learn one-on-one casino in Carlsbad at Dancessense Studios. In the Dancessense Studios website it is titled "Salsa (C.S.)" from 7pm-8pm at 2441 Impala Dr., Carlsbad, CA 92010. 

There is a special going on for one month of Cuban salsa for $40.00 for the month (just for January 2015.) The emphasis in this class is one-on-one casino (Cuban salsa partnering) then in the last 15 minutes of the class, people will learn how to dance this in a rueda. They put my bio in the "about" page of their website. I am at the very end of the page (in color)!! ---Maritza

Orisha Therapy: Afro-Cuban Percussion Song & Dance Workshop/Class in LA- Sun. Jan 4th

Legendary Master Lazaro Galarrga world renowned percussionist of the Afro-Cuban folklore join Cuban choreographer & Dancer Kati Hernandez to open the first Oricha Therapy dance class of 2015 in L.A!  You will learn and explore the intimate relationship between Lucumi songs, rhythms and dance. Come out to dance and let your spirit free to the sound of the sacred Batà drums.

Casino on Astroturf at Solana Beach - Sat. Jan 10th

Keep Calm & Dance Rueda this Winter!
We are back on the AstroTurf for January's installment of Casino on Cardboard (AstroTurf)  in Solana Beach at our favorite spot on Saturday, January 10th! Come listen to the music that gives us that "tarantismo" from listening to timba, cubaton, and son music!! Join us for some fun ruedas, salsa suelta and just plain old on-on-one casino dancing. Bring your camera to capture the sunset while we dance.

What: Casino on AstroTurf at Solana Beach
When: Saturday, January 10th  3:00pm-7:00pm
Where: Fletcher Cove Beach Park in Solana Beach: 111 South Sierra Avenue Solana Beach, CA 92075
What to bring: a snack to share and something to drink. This is a family-friendly event. 
Cost: This is a donation event, in an effort to buy a snap-together dance floor for future Casino on Cardboard events at the beach.  We will have a donation box next to the food and drinks. Let's complete our goal of buying this well needed snap together dance floor. 

January 2015 Curuye Timba Dance Party in LA - Sun. Jan 11th
