Considered to be among the top Cuban Salsa DJ's of the world, David "D.J. Melao" Figueroa is a Timba D.J. from Miami, Florida and the official deejay of the very popular Cuban Salsa Congress World Tour. As the deejay for the Cuban Salsa Congress, Melao's work has gained the respect of his colleagues and some of the world's top Cuban artists. Melao has been invited to work in some of the best venues throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe.



We will also have super talented instructor and friend, Ercan Dereköy. Ercan is from Turkey. He is an engineer, musician, choreographer and a dance instructor who has been teaching Cuban folkloric dances since 2004 in various countries in 4 continents including Cuba (Universidad de la Habana). He has been an instructor in 6 international Latin dance congress in Europe and managed countless performance groups as an active performer or trainer in the past 15 years. His specialty is 1930 – 1960 era of Cuban music and dancing (Son and Rueda de Casino). Ercan will be teaching a traditional Cuban Son lesson. Siiii...CLASE DE SON CUBANO TRADICIONAL. WOW! 4-week Beginner Casino & Rueda Series at A Time to Dance! Starts Thurs. Oct 27th

Hey Cuban salsa and Casino enthusiasts (or interested souls)! A new 4-week series of Casino and Rueda de Casino for Beginners is launching October 27th!  Hosted by instructor Vidal Cordova at A Time to Dance Studios in North Park, if you ever wanted to learn how to dance salsa, Cuban style or always wanted to join in on fun Ruedas but didn't know the moves, this class is for you!  We will introduce the basic fundamentals of Cuban Casino and Rueda, and will explore universal turns and patterns, proper stepping and leading & following techniques that will help you become a clear, smooth and confident dancer.


This class is perfect for those with little to no prior experience in Cuban dance, including dancers who already dance salsa in other styles and want to learn Cuban-specific steps to add to their repertoire. At the end of this session, you will be ready to begin intermediate-level steps and patterns at our next session!

This is a progressive 4-week series where each session will build on the last. No dropins after the first session. 

WHEN:  Thursdays October 27, Nov. 3, 10 and 17.
7:30-9:00pm 
No partner is required. 

HOW MUCH:  $45.00 before October 17th; $50 at the door.

SABROSO! CHANGUí MAJADERO plays LIVE CHANGUÍ, & SON, the roots of SALSA, with very special guest, visiting Cuban dancer, ROYLAND LOBATO! Between sets DEEJAY WARAPO will be dropping those hot  contemporary Cuban dance beats they’re dancing to from Havana to Santiago de Cuba including CUBAN TIMBA, RUMBA, and REGGAETÓN!

To enjoy the band to the max, you’re invited to take a class in CHANGUÍ and SON with ROYLAND and KATI HERNÁNDEZ at 5:30 pm. Hopefully they’ll also give a demo of how these rhythms are  danced in Cuba to appreciate the Cuban phrase, “EL SON ES EL MÁS SUBLIME! ” (’Son is the most sublime!”). 

Along with al you dancers, KATI’s PA’ LA ORILLA DANCE TEAM will keep it happening on the dance floor all night.

Chef Israel has a varied menu for hungry dancers. He has added some special Cuban dishes for us  including Curuye’s fave lechón asado (lroasted pork) with black beans and rice among the entrees.

We’ll be celebrating September birthdays ALMA ÁLVAREZ SALAZAR, RICARDO SALAZAR with a special Cuban Birthday dance!
