Welcome DJ BYRON,  guest music man of the evening! He has the CUBAN SALSA! TIMBA! REGGAETÓN! to keep us grooving all night!

KATI HERNÁNDEZ will be leading an AFRO TIMBA class, showing how Cubans give flavor to their CASINO (CUBAN SALSA) with influences from Afro Cuban dance legacies. You won't want to miss her 5:30 PM class!

CURUYE’s celebrating ‘en grande’ 10 YEARS of CUBAN SALSA TIMBA DANCE PARTIES in L.A. with a blowout DANCE PARTY/CONCERT featuring Cuban singer YASSER RAMOS (formerly with Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor!) with Clave Dura! DEEJAY WARAPO, keeps the groove happening on the dance floor with the latest, hottest Cuban dance beats! It all takes place at The GRANADA, co-hosts for this special event!

YASSER will be performing hits from his last cd, LA RESISTENCIA, on Warapo’s WARACHANDO label (available on iTUNES), offering the best of Cuban salsa and timba. “…definitely a dancer’s album!” per Timba.com. The cd was recorded in Cuba and includes the participation of Cuban greats Alexander Abreu (Havana d’ Primera), Yordis Larrazábal (Maykel Blanco), and, on the bonus track, SONGO CERRA'O, Mandy Cantero and Samuel Formell (Van Van).

CURUYE's CUBAN SALSA TIMBA DANCE PARTY with DEEJAY WARAPO celebrates CUBAN MUSIC & DANCE, and this month 'las aguas', the deities of the sea, and of the rivers and lakes, from Cuba's Yoruba tradition.

At 5:30 PM, KATI HERNÁNDEZ will teach some traditional Afro Cuban movements that are sometimes incorporated into popular Cuban dance.

In addition to dancing CASINO (Cuban salsa), we'll be also dancing some fun and funky reggaetón lines throughout the evening!

September brings a lot of birthdays to celebrate!  KARLA MICHELLE, ALMA ÁLVAREZ, RICARDO SALAZAR, JESÚS ORNELAS, AFIMAYE GALARRAGA, PEDRO 'MUÑECO AGUILAR... will be among those dancing the birday dance! If you have a September birthday that you would like to celebrate, let Curuye know!

The DANCE FLOOR will be  SIZZLIN’ at CURUYE’s AUGUST CUBAN SALSA TIMBA DANCE PARTY! DEEJAY WARAPO will be hot back from Havana after guest dj’ing at CUBA’s ’FESTIVAL de la TIMBA and LOS VAN VAN’s 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION! We’ll be dancing to the latest CUBAN SALSA! TIMBA! REGGAETÓN!

KATI HERNÁNDEZ will kick off the party teaching some Cuban dance moves to spice up your dancing at 5:30 PM. To add to the evening’s activities, KAREN POWELL, AMY HARTENDORP, RUBY ROJAS, TAMI GUNTON-NAVARRO, & MARTIN GUNTON-NAVARRO will be dancing the birthday dance and sharing some cake with you! AND, by coming out to dance today, you’ll be helping some students! As customary in August, Curuye will make a donation for school supplies from the party’s proceeds to The 5 Keys Covenant House shelter for homeless youth.

Casino on Grass/ Beach Party in La Jolla - Sat. Aug 17th

August edition of Casino on Grass!! This time at La Jolla Shores. Don’t miss the beautiful views, dancing with friends and enjoying the sunset. Bring a dish to share, this is a free event so there is no cover.

WHAT: A Cuban Salsa Beach Party

WHEN: Saturday, August 17 at 4pm

HOW TO PREPARE: Bring a snack and something to drink, beach layered clothing, blankets, sunblock, sunglasses, camera, beach chairs. We are definitely taking pictures of this place!
