Casino on Cardboard at Mission Beach - Sat. Apr 18th

WE ARE GETTING OUT THE CARDBOARD AND CREATING OUR DANCE FLOOR ON THE SAND AT MISSION BEACH.

Here are the details:
What: Casino on Cardboard at Mission Beach (Timba dance party at the beach)
When: Saturday, April 18th from 5:30pm to 8pm;
Where: Mission Beach on the sand nearest World Famous Restaurant: 711 Pacific Beach Dr., San Diego, CA 92109; we will be between Life guard tower 22 and 23.

How To Prepare:

Parking: There will be parking issues. It can be very crowded with tourists and beach-goers. Suggest to carpool. Drive to the intersection of Pacific Beach Dr. and Mission Dr.. There is a parking structure underneath the strip mall on Pacific Beach Dr. nearest the beach. 

Bring beach chairs, a snack to share. Water will be provided so if you want to bring something else to drink, you can. There are plenty of places to roam around nearby and get food as well. A donation for the our snap-together dance floor is appreciated.  We'll be calling ruedas and leading salsa sueltas. A short rueda lesson will be offered as soon as the floor is taped and ready to go.

Four Volunteers Needed at 4:30pm to help unload the cardboard and set up the cardboard dance floor. If you are available to help, please contact Maritza at sandiegorueda@gmail.com

Cuban Dance Instructors are ready to teach YOU!!

Many of our Cuban Dance instructors are starting to teach a new series this March. Interested in Rueda de Casino? Get plugged in and learn a fun way to dance salsa where you switch partners and dance with everyone in one song! Similar to American square dancing where there is a caller telling you what dance move to do. It promotes diversity and it's a dance that makes you smile. The picture below is a great example.

There is also AfroCuban Dance offered by some of our  Cuban master instructors (FROM Cuba!) in San Diego. For those looking to add Cuban body movement and styling, the AfroCuban dance classes are excellent ways to improve your dance flow, and better understand the music/dance call and response connection. So many benefit of learning AfroCuban dance. Both Rueda de Casino and AfroCuban dance should be taken together to maximize your learning of Cuban dance in general. And we are lucky in San Diego to have both!

That's right! we are registering again for the World-wide flash mob in San Diego. We are collaborating with several rueda de casino instructors in San Diego and Riverside to make this the largest Rueda Flash Mob in San Diego.

This requires all participants to be in the rueda classes in San Diego and Riverside to learn all the rueda moves that will be called on this date. Rose City Salsa & Timba Festival in Portland/Vancouver - Apr 9th-12th

There is great salsa festival that integrates and celebrates both Cuban style and LA style salsa. It is the Rose City Salsa Timba Festival in Portland/Vancouver. Our very own Wilfredo Guilbiac Rodriguez and Kati Hernandez will be there representing Southern California's Cuban dance instructors. They will have a Cuban salsa track at this congress. Conjunto Afro-Son LIVE at Queen Bee's Arts & Cultural Center (San Diego)

SoCal Staging & Design along with Soldiers Who Salsa and VAYA Entertainment present Conjunto Afro-Son LIVE in San Diego on Saturday, March 7th! Come enjoy the sweet sounds of salsa while supporting Soldiers Who Salsa (SWS), a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to healing our heroes, one dance step at a time. SWS uses salsa dance classes as therapy for wounded, ill, and injured military service members and their families and has 5 classes currently in the San Diego area, as well as other locations throughout the USA.
