Combo Libertad, North County San Diego's very own "son" band is playing again at Club M at the Hotel Grand Del Mar on Thursday, January 29th! If you are a fan of live Cuban music, you have to come check out this amazing son orchestra. It's only from 7pm to 11pm, so get there on time so you can enjoy the music longer. In addition, they have also let us play Cuban salsa during the breaks. So there will sure be an opportunity to dance casino that night. I want to introduce Ruchi Sinha, casinera from NYC who just recently moved to SD. She will be in attendance. Please welcome her to our casino-dancing family.

Rueda In The Park Santa Ana - Sat. 24th
¡Regresamos con mas fuerza!!! Come join Rueda in the Park - Santa Ana in beautiful Centennial Regional Park for Rueda de Casino! (Salsa Cubana) Enjoy the scenery, the music and the fun as you learn this Cuban social dance. Rueda de Casino is a super-fun upbeat and high energy group Cuban salsa dance (but it can be danced by individual couples as well!) Come learn the fundamental basic elements, lots of variations and the combinations that make up “Rueda de Casino".
Our next class will be Saturday, January 24th. Beginner level starts at 11:30am and Intermediate level starts at 12:30pm. Suggested donation of $5/person.

To give participants a chance try these classes for a month, They will sell a punch card, only offered that day, where you can just pay $25 to use for a month (Monday, Jan 19 through Sunday, February 15th) and take 5 classes of your choice. That's $5 a class. That's a steal!

Son Pa Ti (Latin Band) Playing at the Turquiose Bar - Sat. Jan 24th
Great news! We have a new band we can follow that plays son cubano, salsa, chachacha, Latin jazz and boleros. They have a regular slot at the Turquoise Bar in Pacific Beach. They are called Son Pa Ti. They have their own website. A group of us stumbled onto this band right after another live band event at the Turquoise Bar. If you haven't been to this place, you must put it on your bucket list to have a drink and listen to some great music. Here is a link to the Cafe Bar Europa Turquoise Bar. We found their music to be authentic and fun. Let's go and dance to our beloved son cubano music by Son Pa Ti.

Kimba Light (Cuban Band) Playing Live at the Turquoise Bar in Pacific Beach - Sat. Jan 31st
Kimba Light will be playing at the Turquoise Bar/Cafe in Pacific Beach on January 31st. Come listen to the fun poly-rhythmic Cuban tunes of Kimba Light. They play many Latin genres of music such as timba, chachacha, son Cubano, pop en Espanol, rock en Espanol and bachata night an they throw their own timba spin to many of the songs you hear that are not timba. It appears they have a regular slot beginning February to play the 2nd Saturday of the month. Last time in between their breaks, they let us play some timba from my playlist. So there is more of an incentive to support this event more regularly.

Beginners Cuban Salsa Class Starts Wednesday, Jan.7th
Good things are going to happen in 2015. I already feel it! I have a new class series for beginners starting Wednesday, January 7th who want to learn one-on-one casino in Carlsbad at Dancessense Studios. In the Dancessense Studios website it is titled "Salsa (C.S.)" from 7pm-8pm at 2441 Impala Dr., Carlsbad, CA 92010.
There is a special going on for one month of Cuban salsa for $40.00 for the month (just for January 2015.) The emphasis in this class is one-on-one casino (Cuban salsa partnering) then in the last 15 minutes of the class, people will learn how to dance this in a rueda. Legendary Master Lazaro Galarrga world renowned percussionist of the Afro-Cuban folklore join Cuban choreographer & Dancer Kati Hernandez to open the first Oricha Therapy dance class of 2015 in L.A! We are back on the AstroTurf for January's installment of Casino on Cardboard (AstroTurf) in Solana Beach at our favorite spot on Saturday, January 10th! Come listen to the music that gives us that "tarantismo" from listening to timba, cubaton, and son music!! Join us for some fun ruedas, salsa suelta and just plain old on-on-one casino dancing. Bring your camera to capture the sunset while we dance.
