Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca (Real Cuban music) at Carlsbad TGIF Jazz in the Park - Fri. Aug 15th

It is a San Diego tradition for our casineros to meet up at the salsa band events over the summer in Carlsbad so we can invade the dance floor with our Cuban moves and our happy dancing feet.  All friends and visiting/traveling casineros, come dance with us to REAL CUBAN music this time! Toombao - Deep Afro/Latin House Music Night - Fri. July 25th

While this may not be a timba party, it is AfroCuban music fused with house music, in addition to music from Africa that has a cool reggaeton/soca rhythm all its own. If you've never heard it nor danced to it, come check it out. Here is a good sample of the music. This is a special occasion as they are celebrating Makeda Dread's (World Beat Center's Founder/ Executive Director) birthday. There will also be an AfroCuban dance performance by Los Hermanos Ceides.

Rueda in the Park's 10 Year Anniversary Party in LA - Sunday, Aug. 3rd

A DECADE OF RUEDA IN THE PARK!
Yes, it is that time again. You have asked for it...and here it is. This year marks our 10 year anniversary. So SAVE THE DATE!

There will be plenty of friends, food and dancing under the sun. And of course the annual tradition of the Women leading men rueda, that we must admit, the men really work it! Ladies start practicing your leading skills. Guys start practicing your follower skills.

Rueda In The Park in Santa Ana (Orange County) - Sat July 26th

¡Que siga la gozadera! Come join Rueda in the Park - Santa Ana in the beautiful Centennial Regional Park for Rueda de Casino! Enjoy the scenery, the music and the fun as you learn this Cuban social dance. Learn the fundamental basic elements, lots of variations and the combinations that make up “Rueda de Casino.

Our next class will be Saturday, July 26th. Beginner level starts at 11:30am and Intermediate level starts at 12:30pm. Suggested donation of $5/person.

NEW 6-Week Progressive Rueda de Casino Class in Kearny Mesa - Starts Wed 23rd

Greetings Everyone,
Tim Snedeker and I (Maritza Baida) are teaming up to teach a 6-week rueda de casino class in Kearny Mesa beginning this Wednesday, July 23rd.

• Learn footwork drills to timba music (Cuban salsa music) for dance endurance & muscle memory
• Cuban body movement and isolation exercises for styling  
• Musicality to train the ear to find the clave [clah-vey] beat so your footwork matches the music. 
• Learn fun rueda moves that can be applied to social one-on-one salsa dancing.
• TWO for the price of ONE! TWO rueda instructors to help you on your Cuban salsa dancing journey. 

To pay for the class, you can pay at the time of the class (please cash only at the door) or you can pay online with PayPal below.

Fri. July 18th - Casinero/Rueda Invasion at TGIF Jazz at the Park
We will be at the front of the dance floor nearest third base. Get there at 4:30pm for a good spot to sit and lay out the blankets and stay near 3rd base where we will be. Look for me in my very bright neon color top. I will arrive at 6:00pm.

Sat. July 19th - Casino on Cardboard at La Jolla Shores Beach Park
I will still need at least 3 more people to help me unload the cardboard at 4:30pm. The sooner we get this dance floor up, that is when the music goes on and we can dance. Look for us near Lifeguard tower #33.

TimBus or No TimBus...That is The Question: San Diego BusTrip to Cubano Festival in Long Beach - Sun Jul 13th

TIMBALIVE, Isaac Delgado, La Charanga Cubana and other bands to be announced will be playing at this festival. This sounds like a road trip to me. Anyone interested in renting a "timbus" to this event? Get it? Timba + a bus = a timbus. We can rent a regular bus which can fit 49 people. If we get all 49 seats filled, It will be $35/person. This will include 5 San Diego stops. Stop #1: Fashion Outlet of the Americas(Chula Vista); Stop #2: Old Town Train Station; Stop #3: Vista Sorrento Park N Ride(nearest La Jolla); Stop #4: Encinitas CVS Parking Lot; Stop #5 Carlsbad Westfield Mall SW Corner Parking Lot (closest to Olive Garden). All 5 pick ups to the Cuban Festival is 3 hours. They charge by the hour, so we will need to be ON TIME. I need to know if you are in or out by paying the $35 on PayPal by this Wednesday. Please e-mail me if you are in and I will send you an invoice through Pay Pal. You have until Wednesday to confirm with me and pay. If we onlyget 40 people, the price per person goes up to $45.00/person.  PLEASE KNOW that if we do not fill the bus, I'm canceling the bus by Wednesday.It's not personal, it's just business.
